What is Make a Scene?

Make a Scene is a rental company that specializes in displays, props, party décor and hard-to-find items. You can browse the prop gallery online to find exactly what you’re looking for or talk with one of our scene makers for ideas and inspiration. Whether you just need one or two items or need help dressing up your entire party, we’ve got just what you’re looking for.

Do you deliver AND SET UP ITEMS?

We offer three tiers of services: 1. You may pick-up and return items to our warehouse. You only pay the rental price of the item(s). Please note, a warehouse appointment is required for pick-up and return and you are responsible for loading and securing items in your own vehicle. 2. We deliver item(s) to your location and pick-up when you’re done. You pay rental price plus delivery charge. All items must be gathered back in original packaging for our team to pick-up. Delivery charge is based on mileage. Standard delivery hours are Monday-Saturday from 9am-6pm. Deliveries and pick-up are available outside of these hours but additional charges may apply. 3. We deliver and install. When you want us to deliver, install/assemble and arrange all items then return after event to take it all down. You pay rental price, delivery charge and labor charge. Labor charges are based on hours needed to assemble decor order. PLEASE NOTE: Some items are not eligible for self pick-up and return. These are items that are particularly fragile, over-sized or need on-site assembly/construction.

Where do you get your items?

We have been procuring fun and fabulous items since we opened in 2007. Some items are purchased new, some are vintage collections,  and many are custom-built and created by our team. Many of the items you’ll see are one-of-a-kind, hand-crafted pieces that you can only get at Make a Scene. If you have an item that is perfect for our gallery, please contact us!

Why rent?

Many theme party decorations you see for purchase are made for a one-time use and are intended to be disposed of when you’re done. Items from Make a Scene are of better quality than the disposable items and they won’t fill landfills when you’re done. Plus, why store your own decor items and reuse every event, choose a different theme every time and select unique decor from Make a Scene.

Can you decorate with items I purchased or already own?

Unfortunately, Make a Scene only works with our own products and cannot install items you own or have purchased/rented elsewhere.

How long is the rental period?

Rental prices shown are for a ONE DAY rental period. However, we typically allow a buffer of one day before/after for transport. If you need items for a longer period of time, we offer multi-day discounts, please ask your salesperson for specifics.

Do you have tables, chairs, and other items for my partY?

Make a Scene specializes in décor items that cannot be found at other party rental stores. For tables, chairs, linens, tents, catering and other party needs; we are happy to refer some trusted resources.

Do you ship your items?

We do not ship. Due to the oversize and/or fragile nature of many of our items, we only offer rentals within our local delivery area. We are located in Seattle, WA and service the entire Puget Sound area.

Why use a theme for my party?

Adding a theme to your event adds interest and fun for your attendees. The more unique the event, the more likely your guests are to enjoy themselves and remember the experience. Themed props and decor (food and costumes, too) will leave your guests talking about your party long after it is over.

I want to rent, what's next?

We’ll have a conversation via phone or email and then our team will create a contract for you. Rental contract and credit card authorization form are sent to you (typically via email) for review. If all looks good, you sign and return documents to confirm. Some things we’ll need to know before we can create a contract for you: 1. Your full name, phone number and email address. 2. Date and time of your event. 3. Location of your event (if delivery is needed).

What forms of payment do you accept?

All major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover) and corporate checks are accepted. Personal checks are accepted if received 14 days prior to the event for full payment.  A credit card authorization form must be submitted for security but will not be charged upon return of your rental items).

Can I come see items in person?

Yes! However, please note, Make a Scene is a WAREHOUSE and not a showroom. Most items are packed and stored in boxes and/or warehouse shelving so an idea of what you’d like to see is helpful before your visit. We are open BY APPOINTMENT ONLY so be sure to contact us before you’d like to visit to make sure a team member is available for you.
